Frequently Asked Questions

Our craft workshops

I don’t have any experience at crafting – will I still enjoy the workshop?
• Absolutely – actually we like beginners or people who don’t think they are crafty. It’s a very supportive, encouraging atmosphere and we can surprise you with how good you can be.

I have done some crafting before – will I enjoy the workshop?
• We think you’ll enjoy the friendly atmosphere, but it’s your call really. If you’ve done an upholstery course, you probably wouldn’t learn anything new on our upholstery workshops, but we do a lot of prep for you so you still might have fun completing a project in one session. On the other hand, you’ll probably like the other courses because you’ll get a grounding in something new and be crafty enough to adapt it.

Can teenagers and children come on the workshops?
• We do some workshops aimed specifically at teenagers and children, but for our general ones we recommend 16 years plus. That’s not a hard and fast rule though, so call or email us to discuss your particular teen or child's skills and interests.

Where do you run workshops?
• Currently we are in Muswell Hill, Crouch End, East Finchley and Islington, but we are looking to broaden out across North and West London, in particular Chiswick.

You don’t have the workshop I want in an area that suits me - what can I do?
• Have a workshop at your house. Look here for more info

Gift vouchers

My gift voucher hasn’t arrived in time / I have lost my voucher, what can I do?
• We always send out an email when you buy a voucher with your voucher code and you can use that. If you really want the actual physical voucher (and why wouldn’t you, they’re really nice), let us know and we’ll get it to you as fast as we can.

Can I get change from a voucher, or carry over the credit if I don’t spend it all on a workshop?
• You can’t get change, sorry, but you can carry over the credit to another workshop or use it to buy a kit at a workshop you attend.

How long are your gift vouchers valid for?
• One year.

Our craft kits

Why can’t I buy your kits online?
• We are focusing all our efforts on our workshops at the moment, but we’re going to look again at this in late 2014

Fabric

What kind of fabric do you have available on the workshops for me to choose from?
• We have a range of dressmaking, upholstery and salvaged fabric – there’s around forty fabrics to choose from but it’s pot luck what’s there. You’re just as likely to have designer fabric as charity shop curtains. For example, we currently have John Lewis, Cath Kidston, Designers Guild, IKEA and good trade fabric, but we can’t promise what we’ll have next week. We really like bright colours and bold patterns, and we do try to stick to fabrics that are quite easy to work with.

Can you recommend places to buy fabric?
• We are putting together a page of our favourite suppliers, both in real life and online – check back in June 2014
