Our first London Craft Club outing - come along and grab a goody bag May 03, 2015 10:36
We've had lots of requests for some crafty outings, so we're organising our first London Craft Club social trip. There's also an excellent crafty goody bag for everyone who comes along.
This year is the inaugural London Craft Week from 6-10 May, and there's lots of different events on. One in particular I'm really looking forward to is the Craft Central Open Studios, so it seemed like the perfect destination for our first crafty outing. If you've ever felt daunted about going to these events, don't worry! Makers usually love talking about their work, and really welcome your interest.
"Spread across two Victorian buildings in the historic centre of Clerkenwell, Craft Central is home to leading jewellers, fashion and accessory designers, ceramicists, glassworkers, textile designers, print makers, silversmiths and goldsmiths, costumiers and other craftspeople. For the duration of London Craft Week, visitors are invited in to meet its talented designers and makers in their workspaces and offers the opportunity to buy or commission their work directly."
We're planning a short itinerary to get the visit started, which will last about 45 minutes, then you'll be free to explore the rest of the studios. As the event can get very busy, let's go for a quick coffee just before so we can be there when the doors open.
Meet for coffee at 11.40 in the Modern Pantry, 47-48 St Johns Square, Clerkenwell, EC1V 4JJ. I'll have a London Craft Club flag so you wont miss me!
Studios doors open at 12
45 minute walk round selected studios - we are aiming to meet the makers
