Meet Valerie our papercraft expert. Valerie studied Photography and Art Direction at Goldsmiths and Central St Martins, but she discovered her love of papercraft and books when she went on a booking binding workshop on a whim. She decided to study bookbinding at Morley College and now makes books and teaches paper craft full time.
What one thing have you made that you’re most proud of?
I made a personalised journal as a commission for a Christmas present. I based it on a copy Grimm's fairytales because the girl it was going to loved writing creepy stories!
What do you like about teaching?
I love when people go home with a finished product that they are really, really proud of.
Who or what inspired you to take up a creative career?
I've always loved making things and organising crafty lunches with friends. After working full-time in the media industry, I realised I got much more enjoyment out of making pretty things and teaching people to make pretty things.
What’s your favourite part of London?
I love Brixton, I'm always there.
