Make your own Ankle-tie Espadrilles
Spend a fascinating afternoon making your own pair of espadrilles. Staring with nothing but the signature soles (with a practical rubber base) and a 50cm square of fabric, you'll leave with one completed espadrille and all the kit to make your second one.
This is a brilliant introduction to the basic principals of sewing and of shoe construction, so you'll leave with your head brimming full of new knowledge as well as pair of shoes to put a swing of pride in your steps!
This session is led by the fabulous Suzie Kemner. Suzie is an expert teacher as well as being the creative force behind textiles brand Suzie London.
Over the 3 hour workshop you’ll master the following skills:
- Adjusting a pattern for fit
- Lining the upper fabric
- Pinning the upper to the sole
- Hand-stitching with blanket stitch
This session is suitable for complete beginners, we'll teach you all you need to know. You can bring your own fabric (a "fat quarter" of fabric, which is approx 50cm x 50cm. Light to medium weight plain or printed cotton or linen work best)
Alternatively you can choose from our fabrics - we'll bring the selection shown in the image below. Please note there will be one of each type of fabric so you may not get your first choice, but there will be plenty of gorgeous options. If you really want a particular fabric, get in touch and we'll see if we can get it in for you specially.
The soles are available in EU sizes 36–45 so we will contact you after you book to confirm your shoe size.
