Can't Draw? You can still paint in watercolours
All our Watercolour Workshops will be held at our studio;
London Craft Club, 20 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3HH. We are located between Tottenham Court Road and Goodge Street tube stations.
Have you always wanted to try your hand at watercolour painting, but don’t think your artistic enough, or worried about your lack of drawing skills? Or perhaps you want to return to painting after a break but are lacking in confidence? Then this is the workshop for you!
Our introduction to watercolours class focuses on mark making techniques, and building up colour to create beautiful effects, rather than trying to paint an exact copy of something. You’ll be encouraged to experiment and play with colours and textures, whilst learning lots of tricks and techniques from your teacher, artist Kat Campbell, who specialises in watercolours.
Each guest will create their own collection of swatches to take home, showing the skills you’ve learnt in colour mixing, creating washes, and creating different marks using your brush. These will help you build up your confidence with watercolours, as well as acting as a useful learning tool after the workshop.
Once you’ve learnt the basics, you will be let loose with your paints on our gorgeous botanical design templates, using the skills you’ve learnt so far to create a totally unique piece of artwork. And because the outline is already drawn for you, you can focus on building colour and texture and adding details, without spending hours drawing the perfect shaped petal!
We’re certain you will fall in love with watercolours after this class (we have totally fallen head over heels here at LCC!) so you will get to take home your own portable artists-quality watercolour palette and brush, as well as a pad of premium watercolour paper, so you can continue practicing when you get home. You’ll be amazed at what a difference having the best materials makes!
