Easy-Cut Lino Printing - Even If You Can't Draw!
All our Lino Printing Workshops will be held at our studio;
London Craft Club, 20 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3HH. We are located between Tottenham Court Road and Goodge Street tube stations.
There is something magical about carving your own lino block, seeing the design emerge as you cut away the material, and then using it to print with.
We've prepare some lovely templates for you so you can focus on the skill of cutting and printing with lino. You can create your own designs of course, or use our botanical and geometric ones instead.
Our new lino workshops are run by wonderful Ben Hendy, an associate member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, one of the world's premier printmaking organisations, so you will be in excellent hands!
But anyone at all can try this lovely technique, even if you can't draw. We've prepare some lovely templates for you so you can focus on the skill of cutting and printing with lino. You can create your own designs of course, or use our botanical and geometric ones instead.
You will begin by transferring your design on to your lino. Next it is time to carve your lino using specialist tools - and if you have memories of lino cutting in school we promise this is nothing like that! We use a special easy carve polymer lino, which is much easier to work with than the rock hard lino you used in school. Ben will guide you through this process, showing you different techniques to make the process as simple as possible, as well as some tricks for adding in texture. Once you get the hand of using the linocutting tool the carving becomes very meditative and you won’t want to stop! Which is why we give you your own linocutting tool to take home, so you can continue your new hobby.
Finally you will get to print with your hand-carved printing block. There will be time to make multiple prints, and you can choose from one of our ready made colours, or mix your own totally unique colour to print with.
PLEASE NOTE: your prints will need to dry for a few days due to the ink we print with - we will post them out to you as soon as they are dry.
